The distance between Heaven and Hell

My grandfather had a saying he used all the time that I remember hearing when I was younger.

The distance between heaven and hell is 6 inches. From your head to your heart.

How many of us KNOW that Jesus is God. How many of us KNOW that Jesus died for our sins. How many of us KNOW that he rose again and is in heaven interceding on our behalf?

Now, how many of us have accepted him as our savior and BELIEVE in our HEARTS that we are saved?

That’s the distance my grandfather was talking about. It’s one thing to know something is real, it’s another to believe it is real. You can know that Niagara falls is a beautiful set of waterfalls. You can even have seen pictures of it. But once you’ve experienced it for yourself, then you will truly believe that it is as amazing as everyone says it is.

I was fortunate enough to have been able to visit with my grandfather the week before he died. You could see the peace in his face. He KNEW where he was going when he died because he BELIEVED that Jesus is God and that he died for his sins (and everyone else’s). Usually in a persons finally days on this earth, people come to visit to minister to the dying, to try to bring them peace. Everyone who came into contact with my grandfather that last week came away from the encounter astonished by the fact that it was he who was ministering to them. His faith in God was so strong that it uplifting you just being near him.

It’s been about 6 months since my grandfather passed away and I still miss him so much, but I KNOW that I will see him again one day, because I BELIEVE in the same God that he did and that his son, Jesus, died for my sins too. Can you breach that 6 inches from Heaven to Hell? Do you believe?

TV Executives Suck

Seriously, can someone explain to me why they think it’s ok to air a few episodes of a show, then take a few weeks off, then air several episodes followed by another long break? To add to it, the few episodes in the middle are going to be “2 hour specials”. Like that is going to make up for the breaks? We don’t want fewer, longer episodes. We want MORE episodes with FEWER breaks. We get it that you are going to air a repeat (or some other show) during special events (Super Bowl, Olympics, etc…), but don’t push your luck. I’ve seen too many good shows die because of long breaks (or lineup changes that don’t make any sense.

Another thing, why do you move a highly rated show from Wednessday to Sunday? That’s just asking for the show to be canceled due to low viewership. Thank God for Tivo or we might never find the show when you move it).

Ok, enough with the rant, now back to your regularly scheduled… Oops, it’s on hiatus. Sorry.

Yes, I have a blog

I know what you are thinking.

Really, a blog?  Why?

Why not?  I know I’m a little late on the whole “here’s my blog” thing, but I’ve always wanted to try keeping one. I’ve actually tried several times, but I can never manage to keep up with it.  I usually post a handful of entries, and then I give up (or forget).  I’m going to try a little harder with this one.  I’ve got a nice app on my iPhone that will let me compose and post entries while on the go.  Also, I’ve got TweetPress hooked up so I can put my pictures here instead of on TwitPic.

Anyway, here’s hoping this one sticks.
